Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Abbas has had a dream start to his Test career. Abbas, who took 17 wickets in the two-match Test series against Australia has made a massive jump of eleven positions. Therefore, Abbas who was at 14th rank is now the third-ranked bowler in ICC Test rankings. The right-hander had scalped seven wickets in the first Test match. He also took a 10-wicket haul in the second Test match.
Therefore, Abbas has taken only 10 Test matches to reach the career-best ranking. In fact, he had also completed 50 Test scalps in just nine Test matches. Thus, he is rewriting the history books. Abbas also crossed the 800 rating points as he has 829 rating points under his belt.
Bilal Asif is another Pakistan bowler to make an upward move in the rankings. Asif who had a fine first Test match moved up by 17 places to take up the 52nd rank. On the other hand, Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed also jumped up by 17 positions after his good knock of 94 and 81 in the second Test match.
Fakhar Zaman had a fine debut as he scored 94 and 66 in his maiden Test match. Thus, the southpaw opener made an emphatic entry into Test rankings as he took the 68th rank.
Babar Azam also moved up by nine places to occupy the 76th place after his knock of 99 in the second innings. Mitchell Starc moved up by seven places to 89th rank whereas Travis Head takes the 97th place in the ICC Test rankings of batsmen.
Aaron Finch who also played his maiden red ball series made a gain of 15 places to take up the 59th rank.
Pakistan was able to add seven rating points to their bag after a 1-0 win against Australia. However, Australia lost four rating points to slide down to the fifth position in the rankings tree.
