Three Teams Who Can Win The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 is all set to get underway from February 21 in Australia. The opening game of the tournament will see India and Australia take on each other in an intense battle owing to a month-long tourney.

For the first three tournaments, there were eight participants, but this number has risen to ten from the 2014 edition onwards. At each tournament, a set number of teams qualify automatically, with the remaining teams determined by the World Twenty20 Qualifier.

Including debutants Thailand, ten teams will compete in the seventh edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup. A total of 23 games will be played at six different venues in four Australian cities.

Taking into account another blockbuster event of cricket in the coming days, let’s have a look at the possible title challengers of this edition.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup: Possible Winners

Australia:

The Australian team has been the most successful team of the tournament. They have won the title for a record four times.

They are also the defending champions of the tournament and won the last edition that took place at the Windies in 2018.

Currently, they are also the number one ranked team in the ICC T20 Rankings.

Led by Meg Lanning, Australia are the favourites to lift the trophy this year. They also have an added home advantage that will come in handy in close-call games.

The team has ceratin match-winners. The skipper herself is a great batswoman. The opening pair of Beth Mooney and Alyssa Healy is a destructive one and can rip apart any bowling attack. No one can deny the contribution of Ellyse Perry in the team.

England:

The current English women’s team are the ODI world champions. However, their performances in T20 cricket is none short of something remarkable and they are surely one of the best teams in world cricket.

Heather Knight will lead the team in the tournament and is having a great run with the bat presently. The team have a destructive batswoman in the form of Danielle Wyatt.

Apart from the, they have Natalie Sciver as a great all-rounder. Talking about the bowling department, they have the likes of Natalie Sciver, Katherine Brunt, and Sophie Ecclestone who have a vast experience of international cricket and can prove to be handy in the Aussie conditions.

India:

India’s women’s cricket team could also go on to win the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup this year. India have not won the tournament so far and will look to get their hands on their maiden title.

India have arguably the best opening batswoman in the world in the form of Smriti Mandhana. Also, they have an experienced campaigner in Harmanpreet Kaur. Harmanpreet will also lead the team in the tournament.

India also have a very great spin attack among all the teams participating in the tournament, Poonam Yadav, Radha Yadav, and Rajeshwari Gaikwad can run riots through any batting line ups in the world.

Besides, Dipti Sharma would prove to be a crucial all-rounder for India as they eye a first tournament win.
