Michael Vaughan is one of the most outspoken cricketers in the world of social media today. The former English captain and batsman seldom hold himself back in commenting about the ongoing trends or the affairs in world cricket. And, as the English women’s team were shown the way out of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia due to the rains making its presence felt, Vaughan came down hard at the ICC.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) rejected Cricket Australia’s (CA) request of keeping a reserve day for the semi-finals.
Hence, the semi-final clash between India and England was abandoned due to incessant rains.
The Indian team progressed to the semi-final of the tournament since they finished higher than England on the points table in the group stage.
India won all their four matches in the initial phase in Group A, sitting at the top while England finished second in Group B with their solitary loss coming against South Africa.

Vaughan took to his official Twitter account and expressed his frustration by indicating that ICC should have allowed reserve days for the knockout games.
He made a statement as such “No reserve days for World Cup semi-finals….What a shambles..!!”
Heather Knight hopes of a rule change going forward:
England women’s captain Heather Knight was equally frustrated due to her team getting knocked out without playing the match.
Knight conceded that she is hopeful of some alteration of rules moving forward so that no other side experiences a similar circumstance of leaving the competition solely because of inclement weather.

She also said that it is distressing to put in a lot of hard work, knowing that they cannot do anything much about it now and that it would be hard to digest.
“They’re the rules that everyone signed up to. You’d hope now that there has been this situation and the game tonight is potentially going to be rained off as well, so you’d hope now there is going to be a rule change and moving forward, no other team will have to experience going out of a World Cup purely because of rain. Hopefully, it changes.” Knight said as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo.
“It’s gutting. you put in a lot of hard work. There’s not a lot we can do about it..we’re just going to have to rue that first game and try to move on but it’s going to be a bitter pill to swallow for a few of us now.” she added further.
