While the fans will guarantee a jam-packed Lord’s on Sunday (July 23) for the much-anticipated World Cup final between India and England,rain gods may end up disrupting the match. While the Meteorological department has not forecast a heavy shower but threat of rain cannot be ruled out. As per weather report, there will be light and patchy rain throughout the day while dark clouds will hover throughout.
Recently, rain had played spoilsport in several games in the ICC Champions Trophy and it is surely the last thing the fans would want to see when the ladies take on the field on Sunday.
India, meanwhile, will be hoping to continue their red-hot form to beat host England and lift the coveted title for the first time. In their last and only World Cup final appearance till date, the Women in Blue were thrashed by 98 runs by Australia in 2005 but Mithali Raj & Co. will go into the upcoming title-decider with their confidence sky high.
In the last two games, India have thrashed New Zealand and defending champions Australia and given that they have already defeated England once in this tournament, they can back themselves to win again.
But at the same time, they cannot take England lightly. Heather Knight & Co. have bounced back really well since the defeat in the opening game against India. Barring the defeat, they have won all their games and would be keen to continue the winning streak against the high-flying Indians.
