Rohit Sharma, who is currently leading team India in the T20I series against Windies congratulated Harmanpreet Kaur for a swashbuckling knock and helping India get off to a blinder in the ICC Women’s World T20.

Meanwhile, India restricted New Zealand to 160 runs after posting 194 runs on the board, thus winning the game by 34 runs. Previously, Kaur struck a brilliant hundred to set the stage on fire on the opening day of the tournament. Jemimah played the supporting role, whereas Harmanpreet was the star of the show. She registered the first ever hundred for India in T20Is to get her side to the highest ever total in the WWT20.

The Kiwis needed to produce something special, and they were in the hunt initially with a quick 52-run partnership. The spinners, though, brought about a top-order collapse after that. They started to improvise as opposed to sticking to percentage cricket, and it was only a matter of time before they succumb to the scoreboard pressure.

Rohit Sharma, who led the side from the front against the Caribbeans congratulated team India for getting off to a good start. Furthermore, he congratulated Jemimah to playing a patient knock alongside Harmanpreet Kaur. The Indian skipper was brilliant with the bat as she single-handedly took the game away.

What a start to women’s t20 cricket World Cup.Brilliant batting by @JemiRodrigues to keep things calm in the middle & supporting @ImHarmanpreet who played an unbelievable knock to become 1st Indian women to score t20 hundred. I’m sure bowlers can pull things off from here,” the tweet read.
