The Australian opening pair of David Warner and Aaron Finch has been the most consistent one in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. David Warner and Aaron Finch provided another good start to their team as the openers added a fine alliance of 123 runs in the ongoing match against arch-rivals, England at Lord’s. Subsequently, this was the fifth consecutive 50 runs partnership between David Warner and Aaron Finch in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019.

In fact, this is the first time when any opening pair has added 50 runs partnership in the World  Cup history on five consecutive occasions. Earlier, there were four pairs who had added four consecutive 50 runs partnership in the World Cup.

Both players have been consistent for Australia.

Those four pairs are – G Fowler – C Tavare (1983), D Boon – G Marsh (1987-92), A Sohail – S Anwar (1996) and A Gilchrist – M Hayden (2003-07). Thus, Aaron Finch and David Warner wrote their name in the history books.

Both the players have been in sublime form and they are giving a solid foundation to their team. Australian captain Aaron Finch and his opening partner David Warner are also the top two run-scorer of the tournament. Warner is now the leading run-getter with 500 runs in the seven matches whereas Finch has amassed 496 runs in as many matches. Both the openers have scored two hundred in the tournament.

Hence, Australia is looking good to make it to the last four of the tournament and they have lost only one match against India. The defending champions are ticking the right boxes and they have peaked at the right time.

Australia posted 285 runs against England in the 32nd match of the World Cup. England was able to bounce back in the second phase of the innings as they came back with a good show with the ball. Chris Woakes was the pick of the England bowlers as he scalped two wickets in his ten overs.
