Ever since the early exit in the ICC World Cup 2015, the England Cricket Team has worked on their team composition to become the best in the business. They started playing the game with an intent to become the number 1 team in the ICC ODI rankings ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019. Meanwhile, Joe Root believes England has got every right to be called as favourites.

England has recently announced their jersey for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019, which is very unique to their regular jersey. All the players in the England team gave their poses for the photographers while the dependable batsman in their ranks Joe Root gave his time for an interview to the local reporters.

Speaking of being the favourites to win the game, Joe Root quoted that the team has done incredibly well in the recent past. He revealed that they have worked a lot in the past 4 years to become the best in world cricket.

Further, he believes that the team needs to embrace the tag, as it is the result of the team’s hard work in the past few months. Joe Rooty also feels that it is a good confidence booster for the team.

”We worked hard for that. We spent four years on that. Eoin Morgan and Trevor, in particular, worked hard for it. I think we should really embrace that. If anything, it should be a huge compliment. It gives us confidence because we are playing good cricket. We showed that against Pakistan and we know conditions well,” Joe Root said.

”You need to continue that. We need to do well. And again, it is an exciting compliment and an exciting time,” Root said when asked about the favourites tag.

Well, as Joe Root said, England has earned the favourites tag with their exceptional cricket in the last few years. They have made steady progress and the home conditions will certainly make them the favourites to win the trophy. They will start their campaign by locking horns with South Africa in the tournament opener, which is on May 30th.
