England all-rounder Ben Stokes played a valiant knock of 84 runs to keep his side in the hunt for the maiden ICC World Cup title against New Zealand at the Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London on Sunday. England eventually clinched the title on the Super Over boundary count. Moreover, Martin Guptill‘s throw in the last over of the World Cup final deflected off Stokes’s bat and running over to the boundary made the difference in the final. Stokes, who is a native of New Zealand promised at the end of the match that he will apologise to Kane Williamson for the rest of his life for that boundary.
