England’s opening batsman Jason Roy who has been ruled out of action is targetting the match against arch-rivals Australia. The hosts will play against their nemesis at Lord’s, London on 25th June. Roy was officially ruled for the match against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka after scans had confirmed a tear in his hamstring.
Roy has been in fine form in the ongoing tournament and he had scored a fine knock of 153 runs against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Jason Roy had pulled his hamstring when he was chasing the ball in the eighth over of the match against West Indies.

Thus, Roy didn’t field for the rest of the innings. Furthermore, he didn’t come out to bat. Joe Root had opened in his place against West Indies.
On the other hand, James Vince got a chance in the playing XI in the match against Afghanistan in place of Jason Roy.
In fact, Jason Roy has endured a similar injury on the tour of West Indies before the World Cup. However, the magnitude of this injury is more intense and Roy is told to take 10 days rest before getting back to action.
“I did it in the West Indies and it was a lot worse,” Roy told Sky Sports.
“It could be way worse — the scan told me it’s minimum 10 days. We’ve got to assess it as we go along.”
“It’s a huge understatement being frustrated, but I’ve got to keep smiling,” the Surrey star added.
England has thus far played four matches out of which they have won four games. The hosts have been in fine form in the recent past and they are looking good to finish in the top four.
England is considered as one of the red hot favourites to win the trophy and they are looking good for the top four finish. The hosts will play their next match against Sri Lanka at Headingley, Leeds on 21st June.
