The skippers of all the ten participating teams met for an interactive session ahead of the first warm-up game ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019. England and Wales will host the tournament which will run from May 30 to July 14. During that session, Indian National Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli heaped praise on young England fast bowler, Jofra Archer.

Archer will be England’s X-Factor: Kohli

Meanwhile, Archer was one of the three cricketers who made it into the final 15 alongside Liam Dawson and James Vince. Unfortunately, David Willey and Joe Denly had to make way for these cricketers. The Barbados-born Jofra Archer made rapid strides playing in various franchise leave across the globe. Also, his superlative efforts for Sussex compelled England and Wales Cricket Board to change their citizenship policy to make Archer available for selection ahead of the World Cup.

Jofra Archer impressed during the recent series against Pakistan to seal his berth for the marquee event. He bowled at 90mph consistently and also impressed with his line and length. His inclusion was on the cards, and rightly so the selectors headed by Ed Smith named him in the final squad. Soon after his selection, Jofra Archer said that he would like to claim the priced wicket of Virat Kohli. The talismanic run-scorer will enter the tournament as the top-ranked ODI batsman.

Virat Kohli has also returned the favour praising young Jofra Archer. Kohli feels the 24-year-old Archer can prove to be an x-factor for England in the showpiece event. The Indian skipper also said that he will be keenly following Archer bowl in the World Cup.

“I think he’s going to be the X-factor because he has all the skill sets and he’s very different from anyone else. He can generate a lot of pace which can be intimidating and you don’t really expect that from his run up.

He’s just a great athlete and I’m sure the England team will be delighted to have him and he will be exciting to watch at the World Cup. I personally will be watching his bowling because whatever I’ve seen of him he is really impressive,” Kohli said.

Jofra Archer will be first seen in action in the curtain raise between England and South Africa while Virat Kohli & Co will play their first game on June 5. On the other hand, India will play England on June 30 at Edgbaston where Archer will go up against Kohli.
