In the recent announcement, the England selectors have named Jofra Archer as the replacement for David Willey, which was submitted to the ICC for the upcoming World Cup. Archer is just a couple of matches old to the international cricket but managed to win the trust of the selectors.

The flamboyant batsman Joe Root quoted that Jofra Archer has excelled n the Indian Premier League, which shows the calibre of the youngster. Root believes that Archer has the capability to deliver the goods under the pressure and also knows how to deliver according to the plan.

“He’s obviously got that X-factor,” Root told Sky Sports News. “You watch him play in the IPL, you watch the effect he’s had on some of those games, high-pressure games and he’s performed in that environment and thrived in it.”

Further, he went on to add saying that Jofra Archer may be a couple of matches old but got a lot of experience playing across the globe. He feels that Jofra brings something different to the team.

“He’s only played a couple of games for us in international cricket and he’s right at the start of his career but he has the ability to change games, he brings something different to our attack, which I think is a real bonus. It’s a great, strong addition to the squad.”

Jofra Archer for Ashes?

Meanwhile, the skipper in the Test format Joe Root speaks on the inclusion of Jofra Archer for the upcoming Ashes Trophy. He feels that every cricketer got the opportunity to make into the Ashes squad by impressing the selectors.

“I think it’s very important throughout this next period, the selectors, in particular, watching county cricket, watching how guys go throughout the World Cup, guys within this World Cup squad – not just Jofra but other players as well – have got an opportunity to impress and make sure that they’re up for contention when those Ashes squads are selected.”

Well, it would be interesting to see how Jofra Archer approach the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. Surely, he would be one of the players to watch out in the tournament. England will start their campaign by locking horns with South Africa in the tournament opener on May 30th.
