Bangladesh’s all-rounder seamer Mohammad Saifuddin is a doubtful starter for the match against Australia at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Saifuddin is facing lingering back issues and he can be dropped for the big match against the defending champions if he fails to clear the fitness test.

The fast bowler has done a good job for the Tigers as he is the team’s leading wicket-taker with nine scalps in the four matches he has played. He has bowled with an average of 27.56 and economy rate of 7.29. Thus, it is going to be a big blow for Bangladesh if Saifuddin is ruled out.

Saifuddin has been Bangladesh’s best bowler.

Subsequently, Rubel Hussain who is yet to play a match in the World Cup is expected to fill in the shoes of Mohammad Saifuddin.

Bangladesh had won their previous match against West Indies convincingly as they had chased down 322 runs with 51 balls to spare. However, the Tigers will know that they will have a stern examination when they will take on defending champions Australia.

Bangladesh has won two matches out of the five they have played and they have lost as many. However, one match had ended in no result due to rain. Thus, Mashrafe Mortaza led side will look to continue their good work against Australia.

On the other hand, Australia has won four matches out of the five they have played thus far. Aaron Finch-led side is in the third position in the points table.

Furthermore, Mosaddek Hossain is also doubtful for the match as he is suffering from pain in his right shoulder. The right-handed batsman had made a diving effort in the match against West Indies and had hurt his shoulder. Moreover Bangladesh’s talisman opener Tamim Iqbal was also missing from the practice session at Trent Bridge.
