ICC World Cup 2019: My Sixes Are Better Than Andre Russell - Chris Gayle

West Indies star batsman Chris Gayle believes his sixes are better and longer than his teammate Andre Russell. Gayle is known to have a penchant of hitting huge sixes and he has smashed 314 sixes in the 287 matches he has played for the Windies. Thus, he is at the second position of hitting most sixes in the One-Day format of the game.

In fact, it is well known that Gayle doesn’t like to run a lot of singles when he is batting. On the other hand, Andre Russell had a stellar season in the Indian Premier League for Kolkata Knight Riders. Russell took power-hitting to the next level as he scored the most sixes in the tournament – 52. Meanwhile, Chris Gayle was at the second position as he catapulted 34 sixes while playing for Kings XI Punjab.

Hence, both of these power-hitters will like to continue their good form going in the World Cup and they are going to hold the key for the Windies. Meanwhile, Chris Gayle believes his sixes are better as he hits them longer than Andre Russell.

Gayle said in the recent interview with Caribbean Premier League, “That has to be universe boss. It goes with doubt. I set the trend, but Russell is right up there. Bowlers fear Russell.”

“It has to be me as well. Russell can hit a long ball, but most of the times, his sixes are flat and hard and powerful. My sixes are bigger and travel longer.”

Meanwhile, both Chris Gayle and Andre Russell will be part of the Windies’ World Cup squad. West Indies had locked horns with South Africa in the first warm-up match. However, the match was abandoned due to rain. Furthermore, West Indies will play their second warm-up match against New Zealand at County Ground, Bristol on 28th May.

The two-times champions will begin their World Cup campaign against Pakistan at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on 31st May. Thus, both Chris Gayle and Andre Russell will like to be at their best in the upcoming ODI showpiece.
