ICC World Cup 2019: "Never Abuse The Game'- Waqar Younis Once Again Hits Back At India

India bowed out of the ICC World Cup 2019 after losing to New Zealand by 18 runs in the semifinal at the Old Trafford in Manchester. Former Pakistan cricketer Waqar Younis who slammed India after their defeat to England which virtually put Pakistan out of the World Cup, once again to a dig at the Men in Blues after their shocking defeat at the hands of the Kiwis.

Waqar takes a dig at India

Meanwhile, this is India’s second consecutive loss in the World Cup semifinals after 2015. Matt Henry and Trent Boult starred with the ball to defend the target set by New Zealand. They removed India’s top-order batters in no time to have them at five for three. Although India put their best feet forward with two partnership, the dismissal of Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni after a 100-run stand was the final nail in the coffin. Previously, half-centuries from Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson had propelled New Zealand to 239 runs in rain-marred first innings. The target proved too much for India as hey fell 18 runs short at Manchester.

Waqar Younis, who was at the ground during the semifinal, soon took to Twitter to take a dig at India. He said that cricket is a great leveller and one should not abuse the game as it will come back to bit him at some point.

Waqar questions Dhoni’s sportsman spirit

Meanwhile, there was a widespread perception going after India’s defeat to England that the Men in Blues deliberately lost to the host to knock out Pakistan out of the tournament. Former Pakistani captain Waqar Younis agreed to the same and had taken to Twitter to express what the other Pakistan fans had felt. In the last five overs, India could fetch only three boundaries and one six in the game against England out of which the six and a four came in the last over itself giving the fans a chance to question their intent.
