India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round show went in vain as they went down against New Zealand by 18 runs at the Old Trafford in Manchester. Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, who has been openly criticising Jadeja as the bits and pieces cricketer admitted that the all-rounder has ripped him apart with his swashbuckling performance.

Jadeja ripped me apart: Manjrekar

Jadeja came into the playing XI only in the last group match against Sri Lanka and made his presence felt. The Saurashtra-born all-rounder kept up the good work in the semifinals as well against New Zealand, but his efforts couldn’t secure India a win and progress to the finals. Jadeja bowled ten overs giving away 34 runs and picking the wicket of Henry Nicholls and was spectacular in the field. Besides, Ravindra Jadeja played the best ODI knock of his career scoring 77 runs off just 59 deliveries to take the game deep but couldn’t take his team over the rope as India fell 18 runs short while chasing 240 runs set by New Zealand.

Speaking at the end of the game, former cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar finally praised Ravindra Jadeja’s ability as an ODI cricketer. He also said that the bits and pieces cricketer ripped him apart with his swashbuckling performance at Manchester.

“Absolutely. Bits and by pieces, he just ripped me apart today. By bits and by pieces, he just proved me wrong on all fronts. But this is Ravindra Jadeja we have not seen very often. Today he was brilliant, economical with the ball, and the familiar celebration,” Manjrekar said.

Soon after reaching his half-century, the infamous sword celebration was on display from Ravindra Jadeja and was looking out for someone at the commentary box. Sanjay Manjrekar sarcastically said that he was there and was at the lounge at that time.

Previously, Sanjay Manjrekar said that he is not a fan of ‘bits and pieces’ player like Ravindra Jadeja. Instead, he would prefer a proper bowler or a batsman. But Jadeja has proved the former cricketer wrong chipping in at all fronts.
