India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma got back home ahead of his teammates on Friday. The Indian opener was spotted at Mumbai Airport with his wife Ritika and daughter Samaira. In fact, Rohit Sharma was seen driving an SUV as he was surrounded by the crowd upon his exit. On the other hand, the whole team is expected to arrive back home on 14th July.

Indian players will take their flight back home from England and they will land in Mumbai on 14th July. India was knocked out of the tournament after they lost the semifinal against New Zealand by 18 runs. It was a heartbreaking exit for the Indian team as they were overwhelming favourites against the Kiwis.

Rohit Sharma was at his best.

“All players have dispersed. They will assemble in London tomorrow. On 14th, everyone is returning together from London. They will arrive in Mumbai,” a BCCI source had told PTI.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma had a sublime World Cup. He is currently the leading run-scorer of the tournament as he amassed 648 runs in the tournament. The talisman scored his runs at an average of 81 and strike rate of 98.33. Thus, he was the tournament’s best batsman.

Furthermore, Rohit Sharma scored five centuries in the World Cup, which is the most for any batsman in the single edition of the tournament. Moreover, he scored two fifties in the competition.

Rohit Sharma also took to his Twitter account to share his disappointment.

Sharma wrote after a disappointing end to India’s World Cup campaign, “We failed to deliver as a team when it mattered, 30 minutes of poor cricket yesterday & that snatched away our chance for the cup. My heart is heavy as I’m sure yours is too. The support away from home was incredible. Thank you all for painting most of UK blue wherever we played ??:.

Here is Rohit Sharma’s tweet:

India will next tour West Indies for three T20Is, as many ODIs and two Test matches.
