Speaking to India Today after the match, Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise on Rohit Sharma. Tendulkar said he liked the fact that Rohit Sharma played with a great strike rate even without appearing to take too many risks. The cricketer who has seen Rohit from close quarters also advised him to be cautious with the running between the wicket in the next games.

“Terrific consistency (from Rohit). What I really liked about Rohit was it didn’t appear like he was taking a lot of risks even as he was playing with a phenomenal strike rate. The thing that was risky was his running between the wickets. he got lucky a couple of times.

Otherwise, his batting was at a different level. I have always felt, when Rohit starts playing close to the body on frontfoot, he is going to hurt the opposition,” Tendulkar said.

Rohit missed his fourth double ton: Tendulkar

Furthermore, Sachin Tendulkar felt that Rohit Sharma missed his fourth ODI double hundred by a whisker. Meanwhile, Rohit is the only batsman in ODI history to score three double-centuries. The Indian opener fell prey on a mistimed shot off Hasan Ali.

“I think I would put Rohit’s performance in this World Cup right up with any other knocks he has played in the past. Had he stayed there any longer, he would got his double hundred,” he concluded.
