Australia have booked their semifinal places in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 with a 64-run win over host England at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Defending 285 runs, Jason Behrendorff and Mitchell Starc combined well to contain England to secure their fifth win of the tournament. Despite a thorough performance and booking a top-four place, Starc said there is no scope of reluctance.

David Warner and skipper Aaron Finch got Australia off to a flying start adding 121 runs for the first wicket. But England bounced back before Alex Carey’s quickfire knock helped his side post 285 runs on a challenging wicket. Jason Behrendorff and Mitchell Starc combined well to pick nine wickets to contain England to 221 runs to progress to the semifinals. Ben Stokes was the lone warrior for England scoring 89 runs before a deadly yorker from Starc ended their hopes with the dismissal of the all-rounder.

Despite a dominant run, Mitchell Starc feels there is a lot to go before the semifinals. Australia will play two group matches against New Zealand and South Africa before the start of the knockout stages. Starc also added the game against the Kiwis who are still unbeaten in the World Cup without much attention.
“There’s a lot of cricket to come before semifinal time. We’ve got two really important games but playing here at Lord’s where the final is going to be has given us confidence,” Starc said.
“We’ve got another game here against New Zealand, which is going to be tough. They’re playing some fantastic cricket and they’ve really gone under the radar. Nobody’s really spoken too much about them and they keep winning games,” he added.

Furthermore, Micthell Starc heaped praise on his bowling partner Jason Behrendorff, who picked a fifer in his second World Cup game. Starc who is currently the highest wicket-taker of the World Cup, admitted that it was heartening to see Behrendorff do well at Lord’s.
“Dorff bowled awesome, beautifully, and deserved his five wickets – and it’s great to see him do so well here at Lord’s against England,” Starc concluded.
