England came up with a complete performance.

Subsequently, Chris Woakes was able to get the better of David Warner when the southpaw could not control the extra bounce. Jonny Bairstow was able to take a sharp catch at the first slip.

Peter Handscomb, making his World Cup debut was done in by Chris Woakes who got the ball to jab back into the right-hander. Thus, Australia was left reeling at 14-3. The onus was on former skipper Steven Smith and Alex Carey to help the defending champions get out of the troubled waters.

Carey took a blow to his chin from Jofra Archer but the left-hander kept on batting after putting a bandage. However, Australia could not add the finishing touches to their innings.
