ICC World Cup 2019: Twitter Reacts As Rohit Sharma Scores Fifth Hundred Of The Tournament
Updated - 21 Aug 2019, 04:40 PM
India’s right-hander opening batsman Rohit Sharma scripted history as he became the first player to score five centuries in a single World Cup edition of the World Cup. Kumar Sangakkara was the other batsman to scored four centuries in the World Cup. Sharma was able to hit the ground running against Sri Lanka as he continued his dream form going. The right-hander timed the ball to perfection as Sri Lankan bowlers were not able to trouble the batsman.

Subsequently, the right-hander was able to get going from the word go and also leapfrogged Shakib Al Hasan as the leading run-scorer of the tournament. Furthermore, Rohit Sharma also became the second batsman after Kumar Sangakkara to score a hat-trick of hundreds in the World Cup.
Rohit Sharma is on a song.
Meanwhile, the right-hander has also scored one fifty in the tournament. The talisman is at the top of his game and he is delivering the goods for the team.
The right-hander is bringing his best to the table and he is a crucial cog in India’s wheel. In fact, since Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out due to thumb fracture, Rohit Sharma has taken over the role of the aggressor as KL Rahul is buying his time in the crease.
India is chasing 265 runs against Sri Lanka in the 44th match of the World Cup and once against KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma have laid down a strong foundation.
Furthermore, the Indian opener also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of most runs in a single edition of the World Cup. The former legendary batsman, Sachin Tendulkar had amassed 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup edition. Thus, the right-hander is breaking and creating new annals in the ongoing World Cup in England.

What was even more heartening than @ImRo45's record 5th century this World Cup was @imVkohli's tension as Rohit neared the three figure mark and his absolute delight when Rohit got there. Proud to support this team, whatever the result!

Six World Cup 100s in 44 innings for Sachin Tendulkar.
Six World Cup 100s in 16 innings for Rohit Sharma. Five at #CWC19, a new record.
