ICC World Cup 2019: Twitter Reacts As Rohit Sharma Scores Fourth Hundred Of The Tournament
Updated - 02 Jul 2019, 09:10 PM
India’s deputy Rohit Sharma continued his sublime form in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. Rohit Sharma was able to hit the ground running when he smashed Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza on the fourth ball for the massive six over the square leg boundary. These were dangerous signs. Bangladesh knew it that thunder was coming towards them after Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first.
In fact, the Indian opener had a rub of the green on his side as he was dropped by veteran Tamim Iqbal at the square leg boundary when he was only on nine runs. And Rohit Sharma made sure that he made Bangladesh pay a hefty price as he scored more 95 runs after the bungled catch.
Rohit Sharma was on song.
Rohit Sharma was able to time the ball to perfection. He shimmied down the track against Mashrafe Mortaza and smashed him for an inside out six to the extra cover boundary. Furthermore, the right-hander showed no respite for the spinners. He welcomed Mustafizur Rahman to the crease in his fifth over with a straight six over his head. It was all timing. Just pristine timing from the Indian vice-captain.
Rohit Sharma was in the mood and he played a typical Rohit Sharma’s innings except for the fact he didn’t convert it into a daddy hundred.
The right-hander scored seven fours and five sixes in his hundred. This was his 26th ODI century and the fourth of the ongoing World Cup. Consequently, he became the second batsman to score four hundred in one particular World Cup after Kumar Sangakkara.
Thus, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul added a fine alliance of 180 runs to lay down the foundation of India’s big score against Bangladesh. Rahul was dismissed after scoring 77 runs.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Rohit Sharma’s innings:
Many good batsmen don’t have 4 career hundreds and here we see #Rohitsharma hitting as many in this World Cup. #matchwinner ???

What is more surprising at this World Cup: Virat Kohli not converting five straight fifties to 100s or Rohit Sharma not converting four straight 100s into 200s? ?#CWC19
