Pakistan have made a stunning start in their must-win game against New Zealand with Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Afridi picking some early wickets at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Shaheen, in particular, was outstanding in picking three wickets. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Ahmed grabbed an outstanding catch to dismiss Ross Taylor.

Sarfaraz silences his critics

Mohammad Amir provided Pakistan with a great start removing Martin Guptill in the first ball of the second over. Colin Munro and skipper Kane Williamson started the revival before Shaheen Afridi came back to dismiss Munro to have New Zealand at 24 for two. Pakistan continued to dominate the game and this time Shaheen got the better of Ross Taylor courtesy a terrific catch from Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Taylor was trying to move across the off stump to negate the angle created by Shaheen Afridi’s. In the process, he lost his balance playing shots and this time he plays inside the line of this length delivery and gets a thick edge. The ball was actually flying towards first slip, but Sarfaraz Ahmed dives full length to his right and takes a one-hander. It was a stunning grab by Sarfaraz who has inspired his team with this sort of an effort.

Meanwhile, this will silence a lot of criticisers as Sarfaraz Ahmed has flagged a lot of criticism for his fitness in the earlier games. Many questionned his attitude and the Pakistan skipper has answered in sublime style. The fans took a dig at the Pakistan team after the India-Pakistan game and they look to come out victorious in their must-win match.
