West Indies had their backs against the wall as they were tottering at 199-6. However, Pooran and Allen were able to bring back the West Indies into the contest. But, a misunderstanding between the two batsmen led to the wicket of Allen.

Pooran had a second life when Thisara Perera failed to judge the catch at the mid-off region when he was on 106 runs.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka posted a huge total of 338 runs – their highest total of this World Cup after West Indies skipper Jason Holder won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Sri Lanka got off to a good start as their openers added 93 runs for the opening stand before skipper Dimuth Karunaratne nicked to the keeper against Holder. Kusal Perera scored another knock of 64 runs. In fact, Perera had the rub of the green on his side as he was dropped by Nicholas Pooran but he could not make the most of his second life.

Meanwhile, Avishka Fernando who impressed in his first two matches continued his good form as he scored his maiden ODI hundred. Furthermore, Lahiru Thirimanne added the finishing touches with 33-ball 45 to boost Sri Lanka’s total to 338. Jason Holder scalped two wickets for West Indies.

On the other hand, West Indies could not get off to a good start as they lost two wickets early. Gayle scored 35 runs but the Windies innings was given the boost by Nicholas Pooran. Malinga scalped three wickets for Sri Lanka and bowled his heart out.
Here is how Twitter reacted:
Anyone else feel like raising a huge cheer for the mighty Lasith Malinga. Still carrying the Sri Lankan attack. Awesome.

Fernando and Pooran score maiden centuries in their ninth ODIs. You can't imagine they will be the last they score either. Huge talents. #CWC19

Avishka means "God-gifted" in his native language. Seems like his parents named him well. A superb century from the young man. #CWC19 #SLvWI

Heartbreaking for the Windies. Individual brilliance doesn't help you to win games in ODIs and Tests. The reason why I didn't rate their chances at all before the start of the tournament. A few experts even thought that have a chance to hoist the trophy! #SLvWI

Angelo Mathews had pretty much given up bowling. I’m not sure if he’s bowled a single over in training at the World Cup. Gets dropped into a pressure 48th over and nicks out the opposition centurion.
Never tell me that Pakistan is the craziest team in cricket. @OsmanSamiuddin
