England’s all-rounder Ben Stokes had let his frustration out on his bat after Mark Wood could not get to the non-striker’s end. Two runs were needed off the final ball and Stokes scampered through to the second. But Mark Wood could not reach his end and the match ended in a tie. Subsequently, Stokes kicked his bat in disappointment.

Stokes was brilliant with the bat for England as he scored 84 runs from 98 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes. England had their backs against the wall at 86-4. However, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler were able to stage a comeback as they added 110 runs for the fifth wicket partnership.

Ben Stokes scored a fine knock of 84 runs.

Buttler scored 59 runs as the right-hander scored the first fifty of the tournament. The right-hander wasn’t in the best of forms in the World Cup but got runs when it mattered the most.

On the other hand, Ben Stokes was superb for England in the World Cup. The all-rounder scored 465 runs at an average of 66.43 and strike rate of 91.43.

Meanwhile, England was able to get over the line as they had hit more boundaries as compared to New Zealand. The hosts scored 26 boundaries whereas the tourists smashed 17 boundaries.

New Zealand scored 241 runs whereas England also scored the same score. 15 runs were needed off the final over and Ben Stokes was able to score 14 runs in the last over. Furthermore, Stokes was able to get the runs in the Super Over.

Meanwhile, there was a controversy as it is reported that Kumar Dharmasena should have signalled five runs when four runs were given as overthrows. Stokes had not made his ground for the second run and the ball deflected to the boundary. Hence, England had the rub of the green on their side.
