The upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 in England and Wales is round the corner, and the participating teams are in their last league of preparations. The Indian National Cricket team players have also shifted their focus from IPL to the marquee tournament. As they gear up to leave for England, Yuzvendra Chahal admitted that with Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in the team, they are the favourites.

Meanwhile, the selectors named a strong 15-member squad on April 15. However, few decisions created a stir like the snubbing of Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayudu. But the selection panel headed by MSK Prasad backed their decision and gave explanations behind their choices. Another point of discussion was picking only three specialists fast bowlers. Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir recently said India will enter the World Cup with one pacer short.

Yuzvendra Chahal feels they have all the bases covered, and the team also looks balanced. Moreover, with Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in the side, Chahal feels Kohli-led India can repeat what Dhoni’s side did in 2011. The young leg-spinner also added that England, Australia, and New Zealand will be competitive in the upcoming tournament.

“With captain (Virat) Kohli and the legendary (MS) Dhoni in the side, I am sure India will do well in the World Cup,” Chahal said to TOI.

Meanwhile, two young spinners – Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav will shoulder the responsibilities of the spin department. They also have Ravindra Jadeja to help when required. Chahal is ready to unleash all his variations in his maiden World Cup and looking forward to forging a strong partnership with Kuldeep Yadav. In conclusion, he said that they will look to implement plans after discussing with senior cricketers.

“Trust is the biggest thing between me and Kuldeep. We trust each other. Just like batsmen do in their partnerships, Kuldeep and I do while bowling. We (Kuldeep and I) discuss plans with each other and implement those with the help of our seniors, especially (Virat) Kohli bhai and (MS Dhoni) Mahi bhai. We will do the same in the World Cup,” he signed off.
