Meanwhile, the Men in Blues have done significantly well in the last 18 months. They have defeated heavyweight teams like South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand at their home to show their dominance in this format of the game. As the whole team gear up to leave for England, Virat Kohli has revealed that the World Cup is the most important tournament in the World Cup. He also admitted that this win will be at par with India’s Test series win Down Under earlier this year.
“I would put the win in Australia at par with the World Cup,” Kohli told the Times of India. “Look, you cannot place a World Cup win below anything else. It is a global tournament, and the significance and the charm of the tournament is something else. It is always going to be the most important tournament in world cricket,” he added.
Meanwhile, this will be the first time Virat Kohli will lead a team in the World Cup. He will be desperate to put his best foot forward to bring home the glory. Although he has looked a bit off during the recently concluded IPL, Kohli will be a force to reckon with in the showpiece event when India begin their campaign on June 5.
