ICC World Test Championship 2021-23: Updated Points Table After 1st Test Between England And India

The fifth and final day of the first Test between England and India was eventually called off thanks to persistent rain in Nottingham.

The Test was intriguingly poised at the end of the 4th day with the visitors needing 157 more runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series and England needing another 9 wickets.

However, as is always the case in England, weather gods decided to have their say on the proceedings, ensuring not a single ball was bowled on the 5th day.

As a result, the Test that promised a riveting finish on the final day has ended in a damp squib with both sides sharing the honors.

As per the newly-laid ICC World Test Championship points system, in the case of a drawn game, both sides are awarded four points each.

So, both India and England have got themselves up and running in the ICC World Test Championship albeit in not the manner that they would have liked at the beginning of the Test.

The second Test of the Pataudi Trophy will take place at the ‘Home of Cricket’ Lord’s between August 12-16.
