England and India have been docked two ICC World Test Championship points each due to their inability to complete their quota of overs within the stipulated period.
According to the rules laid by the International Cricket Council, players are fined 20 percent of their match fee and one point for every over their side fails to complete within the stipulated time.
Both England and India were found guilty of being two overs behind the rate and hence, not only have they been docked two WTC points each, players from both sides will have to cope a 40 with a percent reduction in their match fee.
ICC Match Referee Chris Broad imposed sanctions on both England and India after skippers Joe Root and Virat Kohli pleaded guilty to the offense.

The Nottingham Test between England and India ended in a draw after the final day was abandoned due to persistent rain.
Leading into the fifth and final day, the Test was beautifully poised with India needing a further 157 runs to complete a win and England requiring another 9 wickets.
With the Test ending in a draw, both sides were allotted 4 points each which have now been reduced to 2 following the over-rate sanction.
Both sides will lock horns in the second Test at Lord’s from Thursday, August 12.
