At the end of the first One-Dayer between India and South Africa, it was India captain Virat Kohli, who hogged all the limelight after his match-winning inning of 112 which helped the visitors take a lead of 1-0 in the six-match ODI series.
As a result, praises started to pour in for the run-machine from all corners of the cricketing fraternity to hail the master’s work.

Even players from the opposition team, post-Kohli’s dismissal, went all the way to congratulate Kohli for his trademark knock in a run chase. One of them was leg-spinner, Imran Tahir who later took to his Twitter account to state that it is an honour to share the cricketing field with the master-class.
Kohli’s 33rd ton in ODIs and 54th overall in international cricket overshadowed his counterpart’s valiant knock of 120 off 112 balls which resurrected the South African innings. Du Plessis, single-handedly took his team coming in at 40-1 to 269 in the end, even after the hosts were reduced to 134-5 in between, thanks to the guile and deception of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.
Chasing a testing target, India lost Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan after their cameos. However, the turning point of the innings arrived when Ajinkya Rahane took his guard at the crease. Kohli and Rahane (79) stitched a mammoth partnership of 189 runs off 182 runs to seal the deal for the Indian team. In the end, it was all too easy for the men in blue, as they stormed past the target with six wickets remaining.
Cricketing pundits such, as Michael Haysman, Michael Holding, Michael Vaughan and many others were in awe of yet another trademark inning from the chase-master.
“Honour to play against you @imVkohli,” captioned Imran Tahir’s tweet along with a picture of him with Kohli after his dismissal, signifying his noble gesture and symbolising the spirit of cricket.
