Imran Tahir will be the only player to participate in the 2020 edition of the CPL [Caribbean Premier League]. The CPL is set to be the first marquee multi-team tournament to kickstart post the Covid-19 enforced halt in cricketing events. The tournament will start from August 18 and will consist of 33 games, all of whom will be played across two stadiums in Trinidad & Tobago.
According to a report published in ESPNCricinfo, no South African cricketer, apart from the vile Pakistan origin spinner will take part in CPL T20. That is because the likes of Rassie van der Dussen, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rilee Rossouw, and Colin Ingram have been unable to confirm their travel arrangements on time.
As per the report, the organizers of the CPL have asked all the participating foreign players, set to arrive in Trinidad & Tobago to complete a mandatory 14-day quarantine period before the commencement of the competition.

Imran Tahir’s presence in Pakistan paved way for his availability for the CPL
South Africa has been grappling with a surge in Covid-19 cases, forcing the national government to extend the lockdown.
The reason behind Imran Tahir’s availability is that he wasn’t in South Africa when the lockdown was enforced. Tahir was in his native country Pakistan where he was playing in the PSL when the lockdown came into effect. Tahir has already left Pakistan after a period of four months for the Caribbean.
“He belongs to Lahore so he remained here until the travel restrictions were lifted,” a source close to the cricketer said.
Meanwhile, South African players have got the ‘No Objection Certificates’ from CSA for the upcoming edition of the IPL but their participation in the cash-rich league could be jeopardized owing to ongoing lockdown.
The 13th edition of the IPL will kickstart in the United Arab Emirates, nine days after the culmination of CPL T20.
