When Rohit Sharma is at his best, he can blow away any opposition and England would certainly agree to this. The hosts would have very much thought that they had the series in pocket after scoring a daunting 198 for 8. However, Rohit did not take long to prove them wrong. Such was Rohit’s domination with the bat that the target of 199 looked ridiculously easy.

India’s chase didn’t start well with Shikhar Dhawan (5) sent back cheaply by David Willey. Lokesh Rahul scored 19 runs off 10 deliveries before he was dismissed by Jake Ball. Unperturbed by the dismissal, skipper Virat Kohli (43) played a perfect second fiddle to Rohit to put the English bowlers on the back-foot.  The duo added 89 runs for the third wicket to bat England out of the game.

Rohit remained till the end, reaching his hundred off 56 balls to take India home. Pandya also made his presence felt with the bat. The allrounder came to the crease when India needed 44 off the last 4 overs. And he slammed 33 off just 14 balls to help the side chase down the total with ease. Pandya finished the game in style by lofting Chris Jordan for a maximum.

Pandya had also made a huge impact with the ball. He conceded 22 runs in his first over. However, in his next three, he conceded only 16 runs and picked up 4 wickets to help India pull things back. At one stage, it looked like the hosts would score well in excess of 200. However, Pandya tore through England’s middle-order to bring India in the game.

And after the game ended, Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter to hail the duo, writing:

“Roooooooohiiiitttttttt shaaarrrrmaaaaaaaa u beauty @ImRo45 top ? brother.. great stuff with the bowl and bat @hardikpandya7 #ENGvsIND congratulations team india ?? @BCCI Indian summer in England ??”
