IND vs SL 2017: Watch - ICC Posts Image of India's New Fielding Hats
Team India began their Christmas party pretty much earlier than others, as they enjoyed the Christmas eve with a comprehensive five-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the third and last T20 International in Mumbai. It was a thorough performance from Rohit Sharma & Co. as the hosts completed a 3-0 whitewash over the visitors.
The bowlers once again came up with a clinical performance after Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to field first at the Wankhede. Even before Sri Lanka could settle down on the pitch, their top three was back in the hut with the scoreboard reading just 18.
A 38-run stand between Sadeera Samarawickrama and Asela Gunaratne stopped the rot for a while, but their innings derailed when the former got dismissed. Sri Lanka kept on losing wickets at the crucial junctures and eventually managed to put up just 135 in the allotted 20 overs.
In reply, India reached home quite comfortably in the end with four balls remaining. It was not the most fluent of batting displays by the Men in Blue but it was enough to chase down the modest total.
India was off to a shaky start, as both of their in-form openers, KL Rahul (4) and Rohit Sharma (27) failed to get going. Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey then steadied the ship with a 42-run stand before Sri Lanka gave themselves a glimmer of hope by taking three quick wickets.
However, Dinesh Karthik and MS Dhoni ensured India reach home without suffering any further setback, sharing an unbeaten partnership of 31 runs to seal the win.
And as soon as the game ended, the players did not waste time in getting their mood ready for the Christmas party. The players, as well as the support staff, were seen sporting Christmas hats, as they celebrated the series win in style.
The Twitter handle of International Cricket Council (ICC), meanwhile, saw the funny side of India’s celebration as it posted:
