India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been out of cricketing action for a while. He was last seen playing for the Indian national cricket team during the T20I series against South Africa in September. His last ODI appearance came during the summer’s showpiece event against New Zealand in the semi-final. The big-hitting all-rounder was given a break for the West Indies series after picking up a minor niggle during the final stages of the World Cup 2019 tournament in England.

However, he didn’t shy away from training twice a day during the month of August. He jetted off to Baroda to fine-tune his skills as it was raining in Mumbai. Ahead of the home assignments against South Africa, Hardik Pandya spoke about how he was working on his fitness levels and managing his workload as an all-rounder. Even though he spent some quality time off the field, he did spare time to work on his game and fitness.

The Baroda all-rounder returned to action for the three-match T20I series against South Africa. However, his comeback was far from pleasing. He was subsequently ruled out of the Test series against Proteas including the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh and the two-match Test series due to an injury in his lower back.

Hardik Pandya flew to the United Kingdom for an assessment of the injury. Reportedly, the injury was sustained during the Asia Cup tournament in Dubai last September where he had to be carried off on a stretcher after unexpectedly going down on his follow-through while bowling against Pakistan.

Earlier, BCCI source’s version to PTI, “Hardik is also set to go to the United Kingdom to consult the same doctor, who had treated him during the first injury post-Asia Cup. He is certainly not playing the Bangladesh series but how long he will be out is still not clear. We will know after he comes back from the United Kingdom.”

He went on to describe his feeling that he is finally back on the field in full swing. His caption read: “Been too long since I’ve been out there. No better feeling than to be back on the field ??‍♂?.”

Meanwhile, India have been consistent in all facets of the game since the World Cup 2019 exit. They recently won Test series against Bangladesh and now they are geared up for the upcoming limited-overs series at home against West Indies, with the first T20I match scheduled to be played on December 6 (Friday) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
