India’s former all-rounder Robin Singh believes that there needs to be a change in the coach. Singh who has applied for the Indian head coach role stated that India has lost two semifinals under the same coach and thus India needs a change. Ravi Shastri was the team’s director when India had lost the semifinal against Australia in the 2015 World Cup.
Recently, India lost the semifinal against New Zealand in the first semifinal of the recently concluded World Cup under the tutelage of Ravi Shastri. Furthermore, India had lost the final of the Champions Trophy when Anil Kumble was the coach. Thus, India has failed to cross the last hurdle in the big event like the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Robin Singh was India’s fielding coach from 2007-09. Singh was one of India’s finest fielders and had set high standards in the fielding department.
Robin Singh said while talking to the Hindu, “Under the current coach, India has lost in the semifinals of two successive ODI World Cups, and in the last four stages of the World Twenty20 championship as well, ” he said.
On the other hand, Robin Singh also spoke about the role of the head coach during a particular match. Singh said that it is crucial to read the mind of the players. Robin Singh also has the experience of coaching Mumbai Indians as the assistant coach.

Robin Singh added, “You got to transport yourself mentally into the game, put yourself in situations that the team and the players face, be a part of the moves, get into the players’ mind. You can do this, only if you understand the game technically.”
Meanwhile, former players like Mahela Jayawardene, Tom Moody, Mike Hesson and Robin Singh have applied for the head coach role of the Indian team. Furthermore, former South African player Jonty Rhodes has applied for the fielding coach role.
