The series against Australia is the final opportunity for Indian National Cricket Team to test their balance in the team and also a chance to look after the reserve players. Regarding the same, Ashish Nehra believes that India should keep on experimenting in order to figure out their best squad for the ICC World Cup 2019.

The Indian selectors and the management have already come to a decision that they will be using the upcoming ODI series against Australia for the selection of certain players for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. For the same, they even want to rest a few regular players in the side.

India will experiment – Ashish Nehra

Ashish Nehra believes that KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Vijay Shankar are in contention for the slot in World Event. He felt that the upcoming 5-match ODI series would be the best platform to figure out the squad.

Nehra understands that the selectors are yet to figure out the players for the remaining two slots. He feels that there are quite exceptional players waiting in their wings to perform for the team and press their case for the selection in the grand event.

”Yes, T20I is a different ball game but experiment should continue. I am sure that not only in these two T20I games but also India will experiment in the 5 ODI matches. Not only India, but every team would also do the same in order to find out their team balance and the players to give the place for the World Cup,” Ashish Nehra said to Cricketnext.

”Not only two places if you want to finalise you have to give chances. You are talking about Kl Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Vijay Shankar or a fourth fast bowler. And also, a spinner like Ravindra Jadeja. To know about the players or whatever reasons in the minds of Virat Kohli or selectors or management, it can be known only through experiments,” he inferred.

However, as Ashish Nehra said, Indian team management might continue the same to get an idea about the team balance. For the same, they rested Shikhar Dhawan in the T20I game and asked KL Rahul to open the innings, who scored a fine fifty.
