India captain Virat Kohli guided the side to an ideal start to the ODI series against South Africa.
Kohli scored a match-winning ton, his 33rd in ODI cricket, to help India register a six-wicket win over the Proteas on Thursday. A vital stand between him and Ajinkya Rahane took the game away from Faf du Plessis’ men.

Former India explosive opener, Virender Sehwag hailed the victory but gave the cold shoulder to Kohli. Sehwag congratulated India on the win and lauded Ajinkya Rahane’s vital 79. However, he ignored Kohli’s scintillating hundred at Durban.
Sehwag tweeted,
“Congratulations India. Very well done. A great start to the series. Very happy for Rahane.”
Many of the fans responded to his tweet and asked about his views on Kohli’s match-winning ton. Sehwag had earlier said in a TV show that Kohli needs someone who can point out his mistakes.
“I think, Virat Kohli, needs some players who can point out his mistakes on the field,” Sehwag said in a TV show.”
No player is up to his standard: Sehwag
“Every team has four-five players who advise the skipper and help him avoid mistakes on the field. I don’t see that in the current Indian squad. There’s no one in the squad who can challenge Kohli’s selection decision in the dressing room. No player is up to his standard,” he added.
Sehwag said there is a gap between him and his teammates when it comes to the question of excellence. He feels Kohli expects the same result from his teammate which is making things difficult for him.
“Virat Kohli has reached a level where he can play well in adverse situations, and he expects the same from the rest of India squad. However, other players in the squad haven’t reached the stature where Kohli already is. This is affecting Kohli’s captaincy.” he said.
