The all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been the star for Australia in the T20I series. He carried his scintillating big bash form into the 2-match series against Indian National Cricket Team. Meanwhile, recently, he also expressed his desire to get a promotion in the batting order in the 5-match ODI games. In between, Justin Langer hasn’t confirmed anything for Maxwell.

Glenn Maxwell batted brilliantly for the team in the first T20I of the game. It was his knock, which really helped Australia to near the total on a surface, which was really tough to bat on. He followed it up beautifully by smashing a scintillating unbeaten century in the second and final game of the series.

I would love to bat at the top – Glenn Maxwell

Maxwell quoted that he would love to bat little up in the batting order. However, he admitted that there are top-quality players in the top 5 places but added that he would love to take the opportunity if given in the ODI series against India.

Further, he went on to add saying that he got a century in the T20I game with 15 overs left in the innings. So, he feels that it really doesn’t matter if he bats at number 7 position for the team. All he wants is to be consistent with his batting.

“It’d be nice to bat higher, but there’s obviously a lot of well-credentialed players in our top four and top five that thoroughly deserve their spot,” Maxwell said. So if an opportunity does come up, I’d love to take it,” Glenn Maxwell said to reporters.

“Even when I came in tonight, there were 15 overs to go, I think. That’s still 15 overs to bat and I was able to get 100, so even if I’m doing that at No. 7 or No. 6 it doesn’t really matter. I suppose it’s just about me making the most of opportunities when I do get them,” he added.

We will do what is the best for the team – Justin Langer

In between, the head coach Justin Langer quoted that they will take a call by looking at all the permutations and combinations. Further, he added that they will look to do what is best for the team. Ahead of the T20I series, Langer quoted that they decided to play Maxwell at number 7 for obvious reasons.

”We’ll wait and see and do what’s best for the team I reckon, yeah. We’ll see how we go,” Justin Langer quoted regarding the promotion of Glenn Maxwell in ODI format of the game.

Well, it would be interesting to see whether the team management would consider the decision or not. Currently, Maxwell is in form of his life and pretty aware of conditions in India, as he played a lot of cricket in India.
