The experiments in the first T20I game didn’t work well for the team at Visakhapatnam. The failure by the batting department asked bowlers to defend such a low score on the board, which they almost succeeded in doing it. Meanwhile, ahead of the 2nd T20I game, Sunil Gavaskar suggests a couple of changes to the team.

It was a poor show by the Indians on the other night. They have been completely outclassed in their batting department, which used to be their strength in the game. However, the heroics from Jasprit Bumrah turned things in India’s favour before Umesh Yadav’s poor final over.

Dinesh Karthik, Umesh Yadav out:

Sunil Gavaskar feels that Umesh Yadav isn’t convincing enough in the white ball cricket despite being part of Indian National Cricket Team for a long time now. With Siddharth Kaul waiting in his wings to take a place in the playing XI, India might drop Umesh Yadav from the team.

Another change suggested by Sunil Gavaskar is to play only two wicketkeepers in the side. He believes that Dinesh Karthik isn’t in great confidence after failing to smash the winning runs for Indan against New Zealand in the final T20I game.

“Umesh Yadav, despite being around for such a long time, is not convincing as a white-ball bowler, so India could well do with a replacement for him. Dinesh Karthik is also short of confidence after the last T20 game in New Zealand,” Sunil Gavaskar wrote in his column to Times of India.

Bring Shikhar Dhawan:

In order to replace Dinesh Karthik, Sunil Gavaskar asked the Indian Team management to bring Shikhar Dhawan back in the side. He asked KL Rahul to play at number 4 which would help India get stability in the middle-order.

“India would do well to bring Dhawan back and have Rahul at No.4. The plus point for India is Rahul’s return to form and Markande showing good temperament under pressure. The fielding though with two wicketkeepers in the outfield meant that the extra run was always on for the Australians,” he added.

Well, it would be interesting to see whether India would bring in the changes to the team. Recently, Virat Kohli quoted that they would like to give game time for the players, who are in contention for the ICC World Cup 2019.
