Yet another day and yet another masterclass from the Indian skipper Virat Kohli in the One Day format. He smashed a brilliant century in the second ODI game against Australia on a track, which has been pretty tough for the batsman. He smashed his 40th ODI century, which itself is a staggering number to have in the 216 innings.

The scintillating century from the Indian skipper pushed India’s tally to 250 on the board. Apart from Virat Kohli, Vijay Shankar showed his class with a brilliant 46. In between, Virat Kohli broke five stunning records during the course of his 116-run knock.

6 – Virat Kohli amassed 9000 international runs as captain during the progression of his innings. He is the sixth skipper to achieve the feat after Ricky Ponting, Graeme Smith, Stephen Fleming, MS Dhoni and Allan Border. The second Indian to enter the chart.

1. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli is quickest to reach 9000 runs as a captain of the team. He reached the milestone in 159 innings by bettering Brian Lara’s record. Lara scored 9000 runs in 164 innings.

1. In another record at the venue, Virat Kohli surpassed the former Indian skipper’s tally of 268 runs in the venue. Now, Virat Kohli, with 325 runs, is the leading run-scorer at the venue. Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored a duck in the game thus losing out the top place.

2. Yet another rare feat to achieve by the Indian skipper during the course of the knock is his century. He bagged his 40th ODI century, which means that he is the second player after Sachin Tendulkar to enter 40 centuries club. No other in the planet reached the figure.

1000 – Virat Kohli, who smashed 10 fours during his stunning knock, now, registered 1000 fours in ODI format of the game. It made him only the 12th player to achieve the feat. As far as Indian cricket is concerned, he is fourth on the list after Sachin Tendulkar, Ganguly and Virender Sehwag.

All in all, it has been an incredible century from the Indian skipper. Despite the stunning knock, India is in a tricky position, as they haven’t got enough runs on the board to defend. However, with the pitch playing its role, it could be a thrilling affair.
