ToggleIt has been a stunning show from Indian Women against English side in the 2nd ODI game. The win ensured India to take the series with a match to spare in the 3-match ODI series. Shikha Pandey, Jhulan Goswami and Smriti Mandhana are the stars for the team, which saw Natalie Sciver century went in vain.
1st Innings:
Initially, it was England, who were put into bat first. They got one of the worst starts ever to start the game, as they lost 3 wickets for 14 runs on the board. The troubles furtherly stretched when Beaumont walked back to make scorecard read 44/4. Shikha Pandey has been fantastic with her bowling with a new ball.
However, Natalie Sciver and Winfield added 49-run partnership to balance the ship. But, unfortunately, the wicket of Winfield once again led to the collapse for England. Brunt and Elwiss walked back within a span of 2 runs, which made scoreboard read 95/7.
Despite wickets tumbling from one end, Natalie Sciver showed her brilliance in the middle. She went on with her strokes to out a decent 161-run tally on the board. Sciver finished with a stunning 85 to her name.
For India, Jhulan Goswami and Shikha Pandey picked up 4 wickets each. Poonam Yadav also chipped in with 2 wickets to her name to make an impact on the game.
2nd Innings:
In reply, Indian Women lost Jemimah Rodrigues for 1 run on the board. However, Smriti Mandhana joined the party alongside Punam Raut, who added 74 runs for the second wicket. Though Punam failed to carry on, Mandhana showed her class in the middle alongside Mithali Raj.
Just when India is about to clinch the game, Shrubsole got rid of Mandhana, who scored 63 to her name. However, the skipper Mithali Raj finisher the task with an unbeaten 47* alongside Deepti Sharma, who scored 4* off 29 balls.
For England, Anya Shrubsole was the pick of bowlers, who bagged a couple of wickets while Elwiss picked one to her name. Jhulan Goswami was named women of the match for her 4-wicket spell.
