1st Innings:

Initially, it was New Zealand, who won the toss and chose to bowl first. Though Indians openers were successful in managing Kiwis fast bowlers for the first five overs, they failed to tackle Trent Boult when he got his rhythm in the 6th over of the innings.

Dhawan, who looked decent was struck plumb in front of the wicket while the skipper Rohit Sharma gave a simple return catch to Trent Boult. It was the moment when the troubles of Rohit Sharma with incoming deliveries exposed again.

Then it was the turn of Colin de Grandhomme, who sent back Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik in quick succession to embed a double-wicket over in the match. The troubles further stretched when Gill handed a return catch to Tren Boult.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was cleaned up by Colin while Boult got Hardik Pandya to get his five-wicket haul. Pandya looked decent at the crease, who smashed three boundaries of Boult. Just when India is heading to a few embarrassing records, Yuzvendra Chahal-Kuldeep Yadav’s little partnership bailed out India from poor stats.

Trent Boult finished with a 5-wicket haul while Colin de Grandhomme picked up 3 wickets. Todd Astle and Jimmy Neesham also bagged one wicket each to bundle out Indians to 92.
