Of late, India is troubling with excessive talent in the side. Yes, you read it right! The current Indian National Cricket Team has got brilliant players in their ranks, which is making things tough for the Indian management while selecting the playing XI. Meanwhile, the former Test specialist VVS Laxman suggests management to go with Dinesh Karthik at number 3.

The absence of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul in the team has made Indians think about a new number 3 batsman against Kiwis for the first T20I. The options left in the kitty are Shubman Gill and perhaps, Rishabh Pant. Meanwhile, Laxman believes that Karthik can do the job.

It is important to give responsibility to Dinesh Karthik – VVS Laxman

The former specialist believes that Karthik can be given more responsibility than what he is offering at present for the team. He added that Dinesh has got ingredients in him to make things happen by batting the number 3 slot for the team.

”India will take the momentum from their Wellington win into the Twenty20 Internationals. I, for one, believe that it is imperative to keep looking to develop more and more matchwinners. Towards that end, I would like to see Dinesh Karthik bat at No. 3 in Virat’s absence. It’s important to entrust greater responsibility to ‘DK,’ Rishabh Pant and Krunal Pandya,” VVS Laxman wrote in his column.

Rishabh Pant and Krunal Pandya are important:

Further, he went on add that Indians should also hand with Rishabh Pant and Krunal Pandya in the playing XI. In order to see future in the side, the former great batsman believes that Pant and Krunal are must in the Indian setup alongside Hardik Pandya.

”Rishabh has been in very good touch and Krunal caught the eye during the T20s in Australia, with both ball and bat. They can both deliver the big blows at the death alongside the pedigreed Hardik, which is a welcome sign with the future in mind,” he added.

Well, it is an interesting suggestion from the former Test specialist. It would be intriguing to see whether they consider it or not. Most probably, they would with either Shubman Gill or Rishabh Pant for the first T20I game.
