It was a glorious chance for Dinesh Karthik to prove his mettle for the team in the first T20I of the series. He got the chance to exhibit his skills, as he won’t often get too many deliveries to play for the team. But, unfortunately, he failed to make use of it, which saw Twitterati go against him.
Not only with the bat, but Dinesh Karthik was also on the wrong side of things when he dropped a simple catch in the long-on region. However, he later, displayed brilliant catching skills to send D Mitchell at the very same position.
Perhaps, it was one of those bad days at the office for Dinesh Karthik. He failed to connect with a couple of reverse sweeps and then timed the ball too well to end up giving a catch to Tim Southee in the deep. Certainly, it gave enough fodder for the social media users to throw their words.
Dinesh Karthik dropped a simple catch:
Coming to the match, initially, it was Tim Seifert, who knocked the ball like a dream to give a flashy start for the team. He continued to smash even after the power play overs to make most of the opportunity in absence of Martin Guptill. his incredible effort pushed New Zealand to a massive 219-run tally on the board.
In reply to chase, Indians never really got going, as Kiwis bowlers were pretty decent with their line and lengths. Lockie Ferguson was the star, who delivered the wickets when it requires the most. Ish Sodhi and Southee also chipped in at times.
Once Rohit Sharma walked back, India tried Vijay Shankar at number 3 position. He showed a bit of promise but failed to carry-on. Then it was Rishabh Pant, who also walked back cheaply while Dhawan failed to answer Lockie Ferguson’s yorker.
Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya also walked back for cheap scores. Though Dhoni was there in the middle, none of them gave him enough time to make things happen. As far as the bowling department is concerned, simply, it wasn’t their day.

Dear @DineshKarthik . What is your role in the team. ? Spoiling the entire balance. You can't bat can't bowl can't field. Even Jaddu is better.

Horrible selection by @ImRo45 (dropping @imkuldeep18 ) bad fielding (dropped catches by @DineshKarthik ) and ordinary bowling cost India the game today. Not to mention @BLACKCAPS played exceptionally well. Hope India bounce back soon to keep this series alive. #NZvIND
