India vs South Africa 2019: 2nd Test, Pune – Day 2 Report; Yet another day, which completely belongs to the Indian National Cricket Team. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli is the star performer on Day 2 while the fast bowlers superbly backed it up at the end of day’s play.

After starting the day with three wickets, the skipper Virat Kohli and the vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane continued their dominance in the middle. The duo latched on to the chances whenever they are on offer to run the scorecard at a decent rate. During the course, Virat Kohli brought his 26th Test century thus breaking many records on his way.

Virat Kohli scored 254*:

On the other hand, Ajinkya Rahane also smashed a decent fifty to his name before edging Keshav Maharaj to Quinton de Kock. However, Virat Kohli never let himself down, as he went on to smash a beautiful 150 in presence of Ravindra Jadeja, who is enjoying his game.

After reaching 150, Virat Kohli has got some reprives from South African fielders, especially, in slips, which saw him scoring runs freely. He went on to smash his 7th double century in Test cricket thus becoming the only Indian batsman to do so.

The knock also acquired him quite a few scintillating records as well. On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja continued his glorious form by smashing a blistering 91 runs to his name. As soon as, Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed, Virat Kohli declared the innings despite having a great chance to score a triple century.

In reply to the chase, South Africa has got poor start to their innings. The comeback bowler Umesh Yadav sent Aiden Markram right in the second over while Dean Elgar has got rough luck when he dragged Umesh Yadav on to his stumps. Things looked even worse when Mohammed Shami got nick off Temba Bavuma.

All in all, it was a stunning show from Indians at Pune. At the end of Day 2 stumps, South Africa scored 36 runs at the expense of 3 wickets. T Bruyn and the night watchman Anrich Nortje are at the crease. Earlier, India scored 601 runs on the board.
