The crackers have been banned on Diwali, however, Rohit Sharma didn’t pay heed to this warning. India was able to cruise to a convincing win by 71 runs against the Windies in the second T20I at Lucknow. Thus, the  Men in Blue have taken a 2-0 lead and also clinch the series. India’s interim skipper Rohit Sharma was the star of the show as Hitman celebrated Diwali with fireworks.

Rohit launched seven rockets into the stand and scored eight fours to bring up his fourth T20I hundred. During the course of the innings, Rohit also leapfrogged Virat Kohli’ tally and became India’s highest run-scorer in T20Is. Furthermore, Rohit Sharma also became the highest century-maker in the shortest version of the game.

India got off to an ideal start after the Windies skipper Carlos Brathwaite won the toss and decided to put India into bat. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma posted a fine partnership of 123 runs to set up the foundation of a big score.

Lokesh Rahul also provided the finishing touches as the flamboyant right-hander scored a quickfire knock of 26 runs off just 14 balls. Therefore, the hosts were able to put an above par total of 195 runs.

Meanwhile, the Windies just surrendered their weapons in the batting innings as they could manage only 124 runs. Their best score was 23 runs which go to show their inconsistency.

Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuveshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, and Kuldeep Yadav bagged two wickets each. Bhuvneshwar Kumar who has looked off color in the recent past, made a fine comeback to scalp two wickets and conceded only 12 runs in his four overs quota.

Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya who had a fantastic start to his career went wicketless in the second match. Interestingly, the southpaw spinner bowled a bouncer in his spell. It was may for the first time that a spinner bowled a bouncer and it went for four byes.
