Team India continued their dominance as look to post a huge total in reply Windies’ total of 311 in the first innings on day two of the second Test at Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant looked flawless as they look overtake Windies total. Rahane (75*) and Pant (85*) showed enough grit to finish the day at 308 runs for the loss of four wickets at the end of day two.Previously, their nemesis, Virat Kohli, continued to force them on the backfoot with his fluent and authoritative strokeplay. Kohli and Rahane scored 60 for the fourth wicket to stage a recovery after a wobbly start in the session. Rahane, understandably, was happy to bat around the India captain and spend time in the middle. Rahane got off the mark with a cover-driven boundary but soon went into his shell to ensure there was no further damage done. Kohli, who was tied down just a touch by Warrican, had no problems in switching gears and return to a comfortable rhythm.

Windies struck just 20 minutes before Tea when Holder brought himself back to remove Kohli. The length ball held its line and came in to hit Kohli in front. While he did review the ball was clipping the leg stump and Kohli had to walk back five short of his half-century.

Prithvi Shaw (70 off 53) out Windies under pressure early on but they managed to strike twice early in the session to put the breaks on.

Shaw, as expected, started the session with two boundaries but greed led to his downfall. Racing towards his second Test ton in just his second match, he slapped a Jomel Warrican delivery straight to cover in the third over in the session. Shannon Gabriel had Cheteshwar Pujara caught behind in the next over to leave India at 102 for 3 and his team with a small opening to force their way back.
