India vs Windies 2018: 3rd T20I – Statistical Highlights

India beat Windies by 6 wickets in the third and final T20I to sweep the three-match series. Batting first, the visitors rode on Fabian Allen’s maiden T20I fifty to post a challenging 181 for 3.

In reply, India chased down the total on the very last ball of the match. Shikhar Dhawan starred with the bat, scoring 92 while Rishabh Pant also scored a fine fifty.

A look at the statistical highlights from the game:

1. Rohit Sharma became the first Indian captain to lead the team to two 3-0 whitewashes in T20Is. MS Dhoni did it once during the 2016 tour of Australia. Rohit previously led India to a 3-0 win over Sri Lanka last year. Overall, he became the third skipper after Sarfraz Ahmed and Asghar Afghan to achieve this incredible feat.

2. The match was only the second instance where two left-handed batsmen from India scored fifties in the same T20I. Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh scored fifties during the 2007 WT20 game against England in Durban.

4. India’s bowlers ended up conceding 16 wides. These are the second most number of wides India conceded in a T20I after the 17 wides in the 2009 Mohali T20I against Sri Lanka.

5. At the age of 21 years and 38 days, Rishabh Pant is the second youngest player to score a fifty in T20I cricket for India. Rohit Sharma was 20 years and 143 days old when he scored a fifty in the 2007 WT20 game against South Africa.

6. Pant became the third fastest to hit 100 sixes in T20s. He needed 58 innings to achieve the feat. The list is led by Evin Lewis (55) followed by Ross Taylor (57).

7. Shikhar Dhawan scored his highest score in T20Is. His previous highest T20I score was 90 against Sri Lanka during the Nidahas Trophy this year.

8. The 130-run partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant is the 6th highest 3rd wicket partnership in the T20I format. This is the 2nd highest 3rd wicket stand for India in this format after the 134-run stand between Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina in the 2016 Adelaide T20I against Australia.
