India vs Windies 2018: Chris Gayle Remains Unavailable for Limited-Overs Series - Reports

As per reports, Windies batsman Chris Gayle will miss the limited-overs leg of India tour.

Gayle remains unavailable for India ODIs, T20Is – Reports

Ever since the Windies landed in India with an inexperienced side, it was believed the batting order of the team would get bolstered by the arrival of a Chris Gayle for the limited-overs leg of the tour.

As per reports in the Sportstar, it is learnt Gayle has declined selection for the ODI series in India and will be featuring for the Balkh Legends in the Afghanistan Premier League (APL). The Windies Cricket Board has issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Gayle from 7th to 21st October for the tournament. However, the ODI series between India and the Windies begins in Guhwati on 21st October. Meanwhile, the final ODI is slated on 1st November in Thiruvananthapuram.

Later, the three-match T20 series will begin at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 4th November. However, it is still unsure whether Gayle will make himself available for the T20I series. Windies is yet to name their squad for the ODI and the T20I series.

Chris Gayle confirms his availability for Afghanistan Premier League 2018

As per reports in the Sportstar, Chris Gayle’s inclusion in the 2019 World Cup is not a surety and neither it is automatic. However, the Windies board has acknowledged the fact that Gayle has indicated his availability for selection for the England-Windies series next year and also for the mega event in the country.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Chris Gayle announced he would turn up for Balkh Legends in the Afghanistan Premier League.

“I am coming to Sharjah to light up the Afghanistan Premier League. Come and join me and support my team #Balkh. All the best to @aplt20official for the newest T20 league in Cricket!” Gayle tweeted.
