Windies Test skipper Jason Holder believes the two-Test match series against India is going to be a good test for them. Holder believes that leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo is going to hold the key. Under the leadership of Jason Holder, Windies have won only seven Test matches. In fact, the Carribean nation has gone on to lose 14 Test matches under Holder’s tenure. Meanwhile, five Test matches have ended in stalemate.

Windies had recently won their two-match series against Bangladesh while playing in their own conditions. However, Holder will know his team will have his work cut out against Indian juggernauts.

India has a spectacular record while playing in their own den. Virat Kohli’s men are the number one side in Test cricket. They had lost the Test series 1-4 against England. However, India’s home records need no introduction.

Meanwhile, Jason Holder is no stranger to the challenges his team will go through in this week. Thus, he looks to pull up his socks.

“We have played some really good cricket in recent times. Quite a few of our guys really stood out individually and we have to keep that collective strength. India is the No.1 Test team. They have played some good cricket despite their last series (against England). It will be a good test for us. We have to just focus on the two Test matches.”

Holder is happy with the preparation before the first Test match. Windies had a preparatory camp in the UAE where they also played one practice match to get acclimatized to the subcontinent conditions.

“We have just come from Dubai. We had a really good camp there. It’s really hot there and we got accustomed to the heat that is similar to the one in India. We also had a practice game which went pretty well. We will utilize this two-day game the best way we can before the first Test.”

Meanwhile, Windies leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo is going to play a key role in the series against India. The Indian pitches are conducive to spin bowling and Devendra Bishoo is going to be the trump card for the visitors.

“He has been around for a while and doing well. The conditions could favor him a bit more here. We expect him to come into play in this series and be a match-winner.”

The tourists will need to play out of their skin to challenge the Indian team. India has ticked the right boxes while playing in their own conditions and Windies will have their work cut out.
