India vs Windies 2018: Kiran More Helps Rishabh Pant Sharpen his Skills
It was an eventful last 12 months for Rishabh Pant. He has been the star for Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League followed it up with a beautiful stint in the domestic cricket. His hard-earned runs paved the way for him to land in the Indian dressing room during the Tests against England, and later he made his debut as well.
Right in the first game, Rishabh Pant impressed one and all with his positive strokeplay. Further, the young lad continued his great patch to register his maiden century. Despite the good stint with the willow, his wicketkeeper came under the scanner after conceding too many extra runs.
Rishabh Pant’s response was superb – Kiran More
With the spinner-friendly wickets on offer, one was expected that the wicketkeeping skills of Rishabh Pant would get exposed. However, the BCCI official, Saba Karim has asked the former great Kiran More to work on the Delhi lad.
Kiran More has been handing his services for the junior wicketkeepers to deliver the goods for the team. Meanwhile, this is the first time that Kiran More has been directly asked to work on the senior team member.
More has been doing a lot of work with the NCA for the last three years, particularly with India’s Under-16, 19 and 23’keepers. So, the BCCI has a fair idea of what he can offer, but this is the first time that he’s been directly asked to help India ‘keeper. It’s a specialized skill that he teaches. He has worked on Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan too in the past,” said Board insider.
” Pant worked on a couple of camps at the NCA before, but the problem is that it’s difficult to follow up on the progress later. They worked on small technical areas like balance, head position and movement on the leg side. It’s difficult to work on a lot of things in just three days. Improving one’s ‘keeping is a long-term process, but Rishabh’s response was superb,” he explained.
However, it has been a brilliant move by the BCCI to ask Kiran More prepare Rishabh Pant for the turning wickets. India will start the series against the Windies on October 4th at Rajkot Stadium.
